Whited Out Trucks

I have been taking photos of whited out trucks over the last couple years, when I spot one and have my camera on me. See some at my flickr page.

The piece What am I and what are you from the series Rubbings has been acquired by the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is on display in the building.

I spent the month of September 2009 in Wyoming at a Ucross Foundation artist residency. I am so grateful for the experience I had there—I felt by turns open and somewhat unsettled, inspired, nurtured, and productive. The natural environment, the facilities, staff, and fellow residents were all amazing, and affected me personally and artistically.
One of my fellow residents, writer Edan Lepucki, has a great article at The Millions called "The Writing Dance" on her experience at Ucross and other artist “retreats,” and on the creative process in general. And I love the parallel she draws between the processes of her writing and my “Rivers” series that I created during my four weeks in Wyoming.
When making my Following Instructions flipbooks, I was searching for a new software (my first 12 books were made using a program that only worked with an earlier version of the Macintosh operating system), and was amazed to find this donationware flipbook program offered by DonationCoder. The creator was actually living in Champaign and his site states that he was inspired to make the software because he had seen my flipbooks in a local museum. 360 degrees.

Circles Boutique in downtown Champaign is showing my series Graphic Tees (alongside the shop's gorgeous apparel offerings) in February 2010, with an opening from 1:00 to 5:00 PM on Valentine's Day.
